Package Design
Sprout Pasta
Sprout Pasta is planting the future, one noodle at a time. In a world hungry for sustainability, this package design project remains a playful nod to eco-conscious eating. This conceptual packaging features three vibrant boxes, each with whimsical cartoon pasta characters wielding watering cans, embodying the tagline "The food that gives back." Crafted from plantable cardboard, the boxes can be buried in soil to sprout real plants, while the inner seed packets are made from biodegradable seaweed paper. The designs on the side of the box can be flipped upside down to align the cap. This project blends fun illustrations with functional green design, turning waste into growth and encouraging users to rethink everyday packaging.

Through designing the packaging for Sprout Pasta, an eco-friendly elbow macaroni product that encourages planting for sustainability, I honed my skills in conceptual branding and graphic design. I learned to integrate playful illustrations—like the anthropomorphic macaroni character—with functional elements such as nutrition facts, cooking instructions, and plant pot guides, all while ensuring the die-cut layout assembles into an engaging, hexagonal box. This project deepened my understanding of sustainable design principles, teaching me how to communicate environmental messages effectively through typography, color schemes, and iconography. Overcoming challenges in balancing aesthetics with print production constraints improved my proficiency in tools like Adobe Illustrator, emphasizing the importance of iterative prototyping for user-friendly, impactful packaging.
